Transformers Minispies fanfic tech specs (4) By M Sipher Posted to alt.toys.transformers, 27-aug-1995 INCOMING!!! More tech specs for the nameless ranks... Oh, this is fun... Again, these characters were created by me at NLCB&W Comics, and are considered free for anybody's usage. Transformers and Minispies are property of Takara and Hasbro/Kenner/Whoever. For fanfic tech specs on other nameless characters, miscolors and recolors, e-mail me. There are now three batches of all-new characters. Okay, NEXT time it's the Robo series (one of the better TF wannabes, especially at that price range.) "David Copperfield (the entertainer, not the waif) once chopped off the tip of one of his own fingers while trying to cut a rope in half with scissors (a tool with one too many moving parts for David). He then went on a New York television show and made a big fuss about how his boo-boo proved he was tougher than Penn & Teller. We said on the same show (between guffaws) that he could whittle off his arm with his nail file and still be a wimp." -Penn Jillette and Teller, _Penn & Teller's How to Play With Your Food_ M Sipher, who nearly laughed 'till he drooled all over himself at the sight of a "Baywatch Barbie"... ---- Group Tech : The Minispies are a free-lance group of Transformers who sell their services to whoever's buying. Most people think that the Minispies are another race of Transformers, due to their numbers. In actuality, there's only four of them. Each one has a chameleonic paint job which changes color at their whim, giving the illusion of numbers. Their incredible speed enables them to quickly escape and disguise themselves. As individuals, the four members of the Minispy team (Highlife, Coaster, Speedtrap and Low-Road) don't get along very well. But for some reason, they work almost flawlessly once they're on an assignment. Each one is fairly small (about ten to twelve feet tall in robot mode), and aren't very strong or well-armored. But since they manage to stay away from front-line combat, those design flaws aren't as dangerous as they could be. Coaster Physical Model : Minispy Dune Buggy Function : Computer Hacker "You may win the battle with weapons, but information will win the war." A quiet, reclusive robot of few words. He spends most of his time in front of a computer terminal, searching for any information he can sell to the highest bidder. When he's not on a mission, he's usually playing the latest hot-selling computer games (all of which he's pirated). His fellow Minispies think he's a geek, but can find no fault in his skills, which have saved the team on numerous occasions. In dune buggy mode, Coaster can travel at 100 MPH on normal roads, 75 MPH on sandy surfaces with maximum maneuverability. He carries a laser pistol in robot mode. His ability to navigate virtually any computer system makes him an invaluable member of the Minispies. He can find almost any piece of information and cover his tracks with incredible speed and skill. His data storage banks allow him to hold an almost limitless amount of information, but the more he keeps within himself, the longer it takes for him to access it. Coaster is very weak physically, even compared to his fellow Minispies. He has very little combat experience. He can also be distracted by any interesting programs he runs across during one of his assignments. Highlife Physical Model : Minispy Mazda Function : Secret Agent "Make way for the best." The James Bond of the group, but without the self-restraint of the fictional superspy. Highlife is a snob who demands only the best of everything. He feels his teammates are low-class clunkers, but tolerates them because their abilities compliment his own skills. He enjoys hob-nobbing with the upper crust of the galaxy, where he feels he's destined to end up once he figures out how to keep all the profits from his free-lance jobs. As a spy, Highlife is the tops. He's brought down governments and financial empires, but recently hasn't had much opportunity to do that level of work. Despite his small size, he's quite adept at hand-to-hand combat. He carries a laser pistol in robot mode, along with some light explosives. He can pilot almost any vehicle. In car mode, he can travel at 160 MPH on almost any combustible substance, although he can't stand to use anything but the highest-grade Energon. Highlife's snobbish attitude doesn't make him horribly popular with his teammates, but they need him too much to kick him out. His small size and light armor make him vulnerable to most weaponry. Low-Road Physical Model : Minispy Jeep Function : Counter-Espionage "Why put off 'till tomorrow what you can get some other shmuck to do today." Low-Road prefers to let others do his work for him. All he does is set things in motion, and watch the ensuing chaos. His specialty is starting rumors and spreading misinformation. During one job for the Autobots, he managed to get an entire regiment of Decepticons to attack a completely deserted planet, leaving one of their most heavily-guarded energy installations open to Autobot takeover. He thoroughly enjoys his work, and often starts rumors just for the fun of it. In fact, some people believe he's the one who convinced an entire nation that a particular action figure in a popular toy line was going to be released as an extemely limited "speckled-gun" version. Low-Road is the strongest and most well-armored of the Minispies. In vehicle mode, Low-Road can move at 100 MPH on even the roughest terrain. He carries a laser pistol in robot mode. His knack for straight-faced lying is unbelievable. He's very creative, and often uses his teammates to help spread his false information. He's very agile, and knows how to blend into the scenery (which isn't easy to do when you're an eleven-foot tall robot!) Even though he's stronger than his teammates, he's still fairly weak when compared to most other Transformers. If the victims of his rumors were to ever trace the lies back to him, he'd be in very big trouble! Speedtrap Physical Model : Minispy Porsche Function : Technician / Saboteur "When you least expect it, I'll make it blow up!" A sneaky opportunist who would sell out her teammates if she thought she could get away with it. She spent most of her early life in the scrapyards of Cybertron, making deadly devices out of seemingly worthless crap. In fact, she now supplies Highlife with most of the gadgets he takes on his missions. (So far, she has resisted the urge to booby-trap her own devices and get rid of Highlife for good.) There are few things she enjoys more than blowing stuff up. Her teammates consider her to be dangerous, but her technical mastery makes her an invaluable team member. Speedtrap can travel at 165 MPH in vehicle mode, and can boost her speed to 180 MPH for short distances. Her headlights fire laser beams, and can discharge explosives from small ports at her back end. In robot mode, she carries a laser pistol. She's an expert technician, and can even perform repairs on her teammates. Small size and weak armor are Speedtrap's greatest weaknesses. Sometimes her pre-occupation with destruction takes over. During these instances, she can become mentally unstable. So far these attacks are few and far between, but her teammates keep a watchful optic on her all the time.
