The Mission

WHY...? You chatted at lunch, confabbed during commercial breaks, kibbitzed on the net when nothing more immediate was available. Then you moved, all those personal links were severed, and the great vacuum of isolation metaphorically rushed in. You were left adrift, bereft, devoid of wry, comprehensive, and insightful outlooks on the more-or-less-utterly useless minutiae of pop culture.

Or perhaps you didn't, and you weren't, and you haven't, but it sounds like fun anyway or at least moderately useful on occasion and I'd like to start so where do I sign up?

WHAT...? So now, available by subscription only, it's an idiosyncratic e-newsletter in which Phillip Thorne PHILLIP THORNE himself -- you've probably never heard of him, but it doesn't matter, he's eccentric -- reviews, synopsizes and analyzes his focus of the instant: SF books, film and TV; animation; toys; and his own soporific peregrinations into the realms of Morpheus. And best of all, it's all ASCII text with linebreaks at an indeterminate point prior to 80 columns. It's news the way the Internet used to be -- the way it was (if the writer might be so bold) meant to be. No active content! No ad banners! No HTML enhancements, fancy CSS, or XML! No pictures whatsoever! Woooo!

HOW...? You, too, can subscribe to The Non-Sequitur Express, which is published weekly, fortnightly or whenever Phil gets around to it. Just message said author at thorne-nsx@underbase.org with the subject "SUBSCRIBE NON-SEQUITUR", and you'll start receiving it at that address. If you'd like to cancel your subscription (possibly because you fear his insanity is infectious), just send "UNSUBSCRIBE NON-SEQUITUR" to the same address. Back issues of the current volume are listed below; prior volumes are in the archives.

Please direct any correspondence to the above address, no matter what domain the newsletter seems to originate from. NSX might on occasion be transmitted from a work account, but it's inconvenient to receive replies there. Thank you.
